Our History
Tshejor's Ayzey is a company that specialises in creating Bhutanese ezays, a type of chilli paste that is an essential ingredient in traditional Bhutanese dishes. Many Bhutanese people who leave their home country for study or work often find the food in foreign countries to be bland in comparison and miss the taste of home. Tshejor's Ayzey offers a solution to this problem with their commercially made, properly labelled, and certified ezays that have a shelf life of six months.
The company was founded in 2000 as a weekend side hustle by the owner, Tshewang Dem, who wanted to try something new. The name Tshejor was derived from the first syllables of the names of the owner's children, and the company struggled at first with unsold and poorly made batches. Through trial and error, the products improved and diversified, and Tshejor's Ayzey captured a small market in the locality.
In 2013, Tshewang resigned from her job of two decades to focus on expanding the business and inspiring new entrepreneurs, especially women entrepreneurs. The company received several awards, including the 'Best Woman Entrepreneur of the Year' award in 2013, the 'Best Loden Entrepreneur' award in 2015, National Trademark Award in 2018. Most recently, Tshejor's Ayzey was awarded the 'International Business Excellence Award-Bhutan.'
Tshejor's Ayzey is committed to providing natural and preservative-free products that maintain the perfect balance between traditional and modern taste. The company has been able to make small investments that have helped it grow and expand, thanks in part to the interest-free loan granted to it by the Loden Entrepreneurship Program. Today, Tshejor's Ayzey is a successful Bhutanese business that provides its customers with the taste of home, wherever they may be.
